The province of British Columbia has declared Family Literacy Week to be January 20th - 27th. See the Family Literacy Website for more information and activities to get your family involved in Literacy.
On November 22nd, we had author Karen Autio and Illustrator Loraine Kemp visit and present to all our intermediate students. They introduced us to their new book, "Growing up in Wild Horse Canyon."
Four Rockets players visited our school today. They went around to each classroom reading and talking to students.
Thanks for visiting us at Casorso, Jack Cowell, Erik Gardiner, Braydyn Chizen, and Nolan Foote! On Monday, October 22, 2018, Casorso will be participating in the provincial D.E.A.R. Challenge. All Casorso students and staff will be encouraged to drop whatever they are doing and simply read for 20 minutes during the day. Our D.E.A.R. challenge will start at 12:15 pm.
Are you up for the challenge? I am super excited to be starting another school year! This year is a big change. I have worked as the teacher-librarian at Quigley Elementary for the past 6 years and have recently moved to Casorso Elementary. I am passionate about books and reading and hope to pass this passion on to the students at Casorso. Of course, there will still be lots of other things happening in the library..... get ready for Maker space, coding, Battle of the Books, spaghetti bridge building, comic book club and so much more!!!
Maker Day is always a hit! Meet us in the library every Thursday during the Lunch recess for some creative fun!
Teams of 4 students in Grade 3/4 and 5 participated in this year's Battle at AS Matheson Elementary. These students read 9 novels throughout the year and had to answer questions about the books in the battle. Both our Grade 3/4 and Grade 5 teams ended up in the top 10. WAY TO GO QUIGLEY!!!
